Reach Teacher Induction Program

Apply Now-Download an Application ~ Important Dates

The Reach Teacher Induction Program is a partnership with the Bay Area School of Enterprise and a consortium of charter schools.

After completing the requirements for a Preliminary Credential, this two year program will support new teachers in moving their practice from competent to exceptional. Through a partnership with the New Teacher Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, the program will lead to a Professional Clear Credential. The program emphasizes personalized and job-embedded coaching. One of the leading causes of new teachers leaving the field is a sense of isolation. The Reach Professional Teacher Induction Program connects new teachers to a community of new and experienced educators through a cohort model.

About Induction:

Beginning teachers are required to complete a two-year induction program as part of the credential process in California. It is the Charter School or School District ’s responsibility to provide new teachers access to an Induction Program.

The Reach Professional Teacher Induction Program is a Consortium of Charter Schools. The Reach program is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentials and the California Department of Education. Completion of the program leads to a Professional Clear Teaching Credential.

PARTICIPATING TEACHER COMMITMENT:

• Weekly one-on-one meeting with a Coach

The Reach Teacher Induction Program is offered exclusively to teachers employed by our partner schools.

Tuition:

Reach recommends that schools pay the program costs of $650 for each teacher, making this program free to participating teachers.  However, it is up to the school to determine the financial arrangement for the program costs.

The total cost of the program is $8,500 per annum and breaks down as follows:

  1. Partner School (if Reach Coach) : $1650 plus $500 in-kind (for release time/substitutes)

  2. Partner School (if Site Coach): $650 ( Reach recommends that coaches who are also full time teachers are compensated $1000 for the the school year or the coach is expected to have 1.5 hours per week built into their job for each Participating Teacher)

  3. State Funding: $4100

  4. Reach Institute (grants & donations): $2400
