Instructional Leadership Academy

Since its inception the Reach Institute has offered high quality professional development seminars and coaching to cohorts of teacher leaders, school leaders and school-linked non-profit leaders.

In 2009-2010, Reach launched the Teacher Leadership Academy. The program is based on the Reach Institute’s innovated job-embedded, personalized, and collaborative practices and includes three integrated professional development opportunities.

Teacher Leader Professional Development:

Reach offers a broad range of professional development for teacher leaders, coaches, and instructional leaders. Each series combines seminars, collaborative work, action research, and reflection over the course of five weeks.

Coach Training:

Through a partnership with the New Teacher Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, teacher leaders who participate in selected seminars will be certified to mentor new teachers working in their school as part of the Reach Professional Teacher Induction Program.

Administrative Services Credential and Pilot M.Ed. Program:

With support from the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund, a small group of teacher leaders are selected each year to form the founding cohorts of the Reach Teacher Leadership Administrative Services Credential (ASC) and pilot Master’s of Education (M.Ed) program. Participants will earn a Tier 1 Administrative Services Credential over the course of one year, and an M.Ed. and the requirements towards a Tier 2 Administrative Services Credential over the course of a subsequent year while co-creating the program and conducting action research in their own school.
